Looking for a quality educational experience that takes students back to the time of the early pioneers?

Coal Creek offers a unique experiential learning environment which immerses your students in the times of the early settlers. There are many different educational experiences to choose from. Planning is made easy by our dedicated team.

We have several professionally developed educational experiences which are designed to fit within the school day. They are made up of a combination of the following activities.

Going to School in 1901

Students experience school life in a Victorian classroom, using and slates and nibbed pen and ink. (ink used from Grade 3 upwards)

Bush Cooking

Students gather around the fire in an early settler's cottage to make damper and learn about home life in the late 1800s.

Old Fashioned Craft

Students discuss how children spent their time with no electricity while making peg dolls.

Life in an Early Settlement Tour

Students are taken on a tour of the park and its historic buildings and objects while comparing and contrasting past and present.

Pioneer Timber Skills

Learn how the settlers built there homes with a demonstration of axes and saws.

Bush Tram

Jump aboard the old carriages of our diesel tram as it meanders through our bushland.
