Beatboxing & Vocal Looping Workshops

Incursion / Last updated 4 years, 8 months ago

A highly interactive and engaging workshop in which children learn to beatbox and use a vocal loop machine to record their own rap, song and beatboxing backing track. Popular with Pre-primary all the way to year 12. Samuel Osborne is a qualified Teacher with over 8 years as a classroom teacher, entertainer and beatboxer with various group sizes and age range.

“Creative Risks of the Voice: an introduction to beatboxing, rap and vocal looping.”

This is the first of a series of four unique workshops in which Samuel creates a supportive learning space for children to develop their strength of character, take creative risks, work in a team, and prepare confidently for the unexpected.

This workshop is playful and everyone has the chance to get on the microphone and bust out some beats. You will learn how to make drum beats and sound FX with your voice, have beatbox battles, write and perform rap lyrics in a team of beatboxers. Then record your original track to your memory card to take away and share with your friends. If you play an instrument, be sure to bring it along and add a further dimension of sound.

If you have been writing rap lyrics in class or at home, now is the time to create a beat and record it. Many teachers and students are enthusiastic to integrate the workshop themes and activities into their classroom to extend student learning.
