Papunya is located approximately 250km NW of Alice Springs. The community sits at the base of Warumpi Hill with the West MacDonnell Ranges to the south of the town. Papunya is the birthplace in 1971 of Indigenous acrylic paintings (Papunya Tula Art Movement). Luritja is the main language spoken by most residents as a first language, although Pintupi, Pitjantjatjara and Warlpiri are often spoken as well. Remote incentives apply.
