Enhancing Student Engagement in Language Classes

Here is an opportunity for language teachers to exchange experiences and discuss techniques that enhance student engagement. Participants are invited to contribute examples of student engagement while involved in group discussion and activities. Teachers share their understanding and experiences of what ‘student engagement’ entails.Practical cues of real classroom teaching practices are screened, followed by group discussion and the contribution of teacher responses / comments. Participants work in language specific groups to plan ten minute language activities on a topic of their choice, demonstrating how previously discussed teaching strategies may be implemented or modified.
