waggingMELBOURNE - Official data has revealed some students at state schools are absent from class for several weeks of the year. The figures show that, on average, about 38,000 state school students are absent each day, or one in every 14 students across Victoria. The alarming statistics have called for parents to be fined and schools given more resources to fight rampant absenteeism.
