Direct Instruction (DI) is an instructional program, marketed by American publisher McGraw-Hill, which uses a highly scripted approach to teaching in which learning is broken down into a hierarchy of skills and tasks.

Instruction is followed by assessment tasks, the results of which are used to determine and modify further instructional strategies.
