**Education - Information - Prevention**

The Discovery Centre is Australia's first interactive vision and hearing education centre. There are nine innovative and interactive exhibits which take visitors through a selection of experiences and activities, simulating life with a vision or hearing impairment.

The following activities will give students a better understanding of how life would be affected by a vision and/or hearing loss...

- Using vision loss simulation glasses to play basketball and catch public transport
- Walking with a white cane and assisting a person with a vision impairment correctly as a sighted guide
- Learning about how Guide Dogs SA/NT select, train and match a Guide Dog to a recipient
- Gain an understanding of how Braille assists people with a vision impairment to communicate effectively
- Test sounds to develop an understanding of safe listening levels.

Where possible, students will also meet one of our special dogs in training. (*Subject to availability.*)
