Established in 1960, the Tasmanian Music Teachers’ Association is the major association of instrumental and vocal teachers in Tasmania. Members are highly qualified instrumental and vocal teachers throughout Hobart and surrounds, Launceston, Devonport, Burnie and other regions around Tasmania.

We are the major association of instrumental and vocal teachers in Tasmania. The Tasmanian Music Teachers’ Association was established in 1960.  Our members are highly qualified instrumental and vocal teachers throughout Tasmania. Members are bound by the rules of the Association, which are detailed in the TMTA Constitution (see website under About Us.)

Aims of the Association

  • To be concerned with matters of music education and in particular of private music teaching
  • To define, promote and maintain professional standards in music education and in particular in private music teaching
  • To represent the interests of its members
  • To compile, hold and maintain a register of the names of experienced teachers in music professionally engaged in private practice

The Association seeks to assist its members through:

  • Professional development activities
  • Practical demonstrations
  • Product information workshops
  • Instrumental and vocal master classes for all levels
