Back to School Day

A joint event with VOSA & KMEIA Vic A great event for brushing off the cobwebs and kick-starting the new year! Lots of inspiring, fresh and innovative ideas to take back to your classroom. Two concurrent sessions run for teachers, covering activities for the early years (Prep-Yr4), middle years (Yr5-8), ideas for the music classroom and choral repertoire, plus plenty of ideas for teacher new to music.

PRESENTERS:  
Lynette Richardson has enjoyed a varied 30-year plus career as a Music Teacher, having taught class music & conducted Choirs across both Primary & Secondary levels, as well as dabbling in Piano, Voice, Musicianship, Theory & Instrumental Ensembles Tuition. She classes herself as a Choral Specialist and has devised a program of warm-ups for choirs of all ages and levels entitled "Choralastics ™". Lynette worked with The Australian Girls’ Choir from its inception in 1984 until 2007. Seven years ago, Lynette became the Director of Music for Choir Victoria. In addition to her teaching roles, Lynette has enjoyed performing as a lead Alto with 3 well- known Melbourne Choirs. She has also played & performed piano duets; accompanied a range of instrumentalists & been repetiteur for Musical Theatre Companies. Lynette is currently teaching Junior School music at Wesley College, Glen Waverley. Lisa Sheppard (B Mus Hons/B Ed) is a primary school music educator who teaches three year olds to Year 6 at Firbank Grammar School, Sandringham Campus. She is dedicated to creating a well-balanced, sequential program that successfully caters for a range of students learning styles and needs. Lisa is passionate about successfully implementing ICT within all lessons & enjoys training teachers and helping them embrace a wide range of technologies within their own teaching. Renee Heron is a Choral Specialist, Violin and Classroom Music Teacher at Xavier College, Melbourne. She has taught in a wide range of contexts from Kindergarten to VCE and holds a Bachelor of Music in performance (University of Qld), Master of Teaching (Melbourne University) and AMusA (violin). She is currently Teacher-in-Charge of the Probationer training group at the Australian Boys Choir Institute. She has a particular passion in the importance of music and development in early childhood and recently completed her Australian Kodaly Certificate in this area. Renee is a regular adjudicator, workshop presenter and sings in Exaudi Youth Choir.
