Accountability for a person's performance is essential in every workplace. However, to only judge this performance against a set of fixed and often overlapping criteria is very much like having the person sit an externally set test, then using the results as the only basis upon which all future decisions regarding the person are made. And that was the fatal flaw of the 2013 teacher appraisal process in Victorian Government schools.
