MELBOURNE, Aug 25 - The 16-year-old boy allegedly made threats on social media about Point Cook Secondary College a week ago, police said.

The threat was put on the Whisper app and read that "someone was going to shoot students at the senior school", according to Seven News.

On the day the threat surfaced an email was sent to parents, with some picking their children up from school early.

The boy has been released pending further enquiries.
