The Opportunity

The Berry Street School is a specialist independent school consisting of four campuses based in Ballarat, Morwell, Noble Park and Shepparton. We provide a Victorian Curriculum and VCAL program for students aged 12 to 18 years who have become disengaged from mainstream education and deliver a trauma-informed education model.

This Parental Leave cover is a full time, 6 month fixed term opportunity that will commence in Term 1 2021 and conclude at the end of Term 2 2021.

Key Responsibilities

The Classroom Teacher will:

  • Plan, implement and deliver an engaging curriculum based on the individual needs of the students.
  • Use school-wide data measurements and teacher-informed judgements to inform practice.
  • Formulate frequently updated IEPS’s addressing the social-emotional and educational needs of the students.
  • Support the engagement of students within an inclusive and equitable educational environment implementing a trauma-aware approach to behaviour management.
  • Uphold all Australian Teaching Professional Standards.

About You

To be successful in the role, you will hold a tertiary qualification in Teaching/Education, have a current Victorian Institute of Teaching registration and be able to work creatively to engage our young people in their education. You will understand of the importance of and have the ability to work in a team environment and an understanding of the trauma informed positive education model approach.
