The Knox School is an independent, non-denominational, co-educational school catering for students from Pre-Prep to Year 12. The Knox School consists of two sub-schools on one attractive campus in Wantirna South, Victoria.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Inclusive Learning Teacher to join our energetic staff. This is a full-time, ongoing position commencing as soon as possible.

The role of an Inclusive Education Support Teacher at The Knox School is to provide high quality learning support across our Junior and Senior schools. The teacher is accountable for student support, recognition of individual student learning styles and assistance with modifications and adjustments to learning and assessment programs.

About the role:

  • Provide individual and small group instruction under the guidance of the Head of Personalised Learning – Diversity and Inclusion, in collaboration with Heads of Schools, Heads of Departments and classroom teachers.
  • Foster a stimulating and engaging learning environment, where all students feel valued and respected.
  • Utilise both external and internal data, alongside education assessments, to identify students’ needs and monitor their progress to inform ongoing and future strategies.
  • Assist in the development of individual learning plans (ILPs) for neurodiverse students with specific learning needs
  • Conduct parent/guardian meetings to discuss student support and ILPs, fostering a collaborative partnership to support student learning.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure a holistic and supportive learning environment for all students.
  • Work in partnership with external professionals, such as speech therapists, occupational therapists and psychologists to support students’ overall development.
  • Commit to personal professional learning and continuous improvement by engaging in ongoing professional development and latest research in best teaching practice.

The ideal candidate:

  • Demonstrates a genuine passion for, and commitment to inclusive education and a proven record of high-performance teaching to meet diverse learning needs.
  • Holds a current VIT registration.
  • Understands literacy and numeracy development across various curriculum areas.
  • Is proficient in utilising assessments and data to inform teaching practices.
  • Has knowledge and understanding of the School’s obligations in respect of Ministerial Order No. 1359, the Reportable Conduct Scheme, mandatory reporting, record keeping in relation to student safety and wellbeing, the failure to disclose and failure to protect offences (and any other information sharing and reporting obligations that may arise). Training will be provided.
  • Has working knowledge of and is able to adhere to the School’s policies and student safety practices, including those detailed in the Student Safety at The Knox School Handbook which can be accessed here.
  • Satisfactorily completes a values-based interview which will assess suitability to work with children and young people, and ensure that children and young people’s rights are respected.
  • Displays a supportive and respectful attitude to students and their families and builds positive connections with all members of the school community.
  • Holds, or is prepared to obtain, a current Level 2 First Aid Qualification, including CPR, Anaphylaxis and Asthma Training. Training is provided by the school annually.
