Faith Lutheran College, Plainland is a co-educational, Christian secondary school providing outstanding education and extensive future pathways to students in Years 7-12. Proudly Christian and offering a welcoming, safe and inclusive environment to all students, we believe that each and every learner has God-given gifts and talents to develop and discover as they progress through their unique educational journey.

Faith Lutheran College is situated on 24 hectares of land in a picturesque rural setting at Plainland. We are a co-educational Secondary College and the only Independent School between West Ipswich and Toowoomba. Faith Lutheran first opened in 1999 with 40 students in Years 8 and 9 in temporary premises in Laidley. The College then moved to our present location in October 2000.Presently we are a small school with just over 475 students across Years 8 to 12, and are one of 85 Lutheran schools in Australia.

Christian beliefs and values are the basis of our ethos. Our school culture, where there is laughter, happiness and genuine joy, where morale is high and self esteem is being boosted by praise, support and care, provides a positive, energetic and vibrant learning environment. The College has a modern unitised curriculum structure with a greater choice of elective subjects at Years 9 and 10 than most other schools. We offer 22 different subjects to our Year 11 and 12 students. We offer our senior students alternative career opportunities through School Based Apprenticeships and Traineeships.

We believe in building good relationships between staff and students, as well as between students and so we have a well established pastoral care program. In conjunction with the individual-focused pastoral care program, the College has a culture of strong but caring discipline. We believe in giving students as many opportunities as possible to discover and develop their individual talents, not only academically, but also in cultural and sporting activities. We believe in the importance of keeping up with modern technology and so all of our students have access to laptops and the internet. Our circular timetable allows for shorter and longer lessons each week to cater for academic and practical subjects.

We believe that innovative excursions, camps, overseas trips, service trips as well as work experience, challenge students to understand how the theory of classroom studies is put into practice in the outside world, to develop a sense of community, teamwork and leadership, and to improve their individual skills in various activities. We believe education is a partnership between parents and the College and send school reports to parents at the end of each term.

We appreciate that life on the land is tough, so our fees are reflective of this situation. We reduce the fees for parents who enrol early and offer scholarships each year to four students. We believe in helping parents transport their children to and from school and operate four College bus services in addition to the six services provided by the Transport Department. We believe parents should see the College in action and to ‘feel’ the culture and climate of the school before making a decision about their child’s secondary education. It’s the benefits of an independent school education without having to travel far from home. It’s an education that offers a broad range of subjects in an exciting mix of activities, excursions, camps, competitions and sports. It’s our approach to developing individuals with the values and abilities to take on the challenges and opportunities of life after school.
