A Continuum for Teaching students from Pre-School to Secondary using the Orff Approach

Doug Goodkin from the San Francisco School will present a three day workshop that demonstrates a continuum for teaching students from Pre-School to Secondary using the Orff Approach.

Time 9:00am - 3:00pm

Within this workshop will be experiences with mixed metre and body percussion, singing games and movement for preschoolers and young children, discussion on the application of the approach with children and adolescents, movement as a way of knowing about the structure of musical examples, arrangements as models for participants’ creativity, engagement with music of different cultures, examples from some of his published texts, and one day will focus on the use of Jazz as a musical medium.

This course enables teachers in preschool, primary and high schools to engage with creative applications of new music, experience arrangements and create their own, engage with music of different cultures and with a range of genres including jazz.
