AAEE Biennial Conference

The theme of this year’s Conference is Tomorrow Making – Our present to the future. We are committed to creating a Conference that shares and showcases the best thinking and actions in our field. How do we build the resilience and optimism of the next generation so they will know that they can change the world around them? How can our work in Environmental Education and Education for Sustainability enable schools and their communities to change their values and behaviours?

WHAT CAN I DO IN ADELAIDE?

So what can you expect at the conference? Well, to start with Adelaide is a small city with an enviable lifestyle. You will find plenty to see and do all within an easy walk from the conference site.

Adelaide’s Central Market is a foodie’s heaven and part of a food precinct that includes the Gouger Street restaurant strip. You might discover more food options with Adelaide city’s booming food truck culture or boutique hole in the wall bars.

On the way you might want to visit the new Conservation SA environment hub where NGO’s and the state government are partnering to create a dynamic one stop shop complete with bike workshops and community garden.

Or you may want to take a tour of the Christie Walk eco village in the heart of the city, this award winning community have pioneered built sustainability and run school tours for many years.

WHAT CAN I EXPECT FROM THE CONFERENCE?

What we really hope you come away with is a better idea of what is happening in our sector across the country and elsewhere.

We think our work with schools in South Australia is very strong and we look forward to sharing this through the conference and via the field trips.

If you want to dig deeper to see what might be showcased visit the Natural Resources website to find out more.

There is a big interest in reconnecting young people with nature through both play and learning, so expect to explore this with Nature Play SA and the Australian Sustainable Schools initiative SA.

We also have a long history valuing and promoting Youth Voice across the state and have been running the Youth Environment Council since 1997.
