Presentation Two will provide a brief overview of the current EAL Bridging study design for the accreditation period of 2022 – 2026. Carlo and Lucy will discuss how they implement EAL Bridging for Year 11 students at their school located in the North West region of Victoria..

Presentation one: Holistic Approach to Implementating Innovative Teaching and Learning Practices of Bridging EAL

This presentation will share a brief overview of the innovative teaching and learning practices of Bridging EAL at Hampton Park Secondary College, situated in South Eastern Victoria region. Rabecca will discuss how they have adopted a whole school approach to the implementation of Bridging EAL for Year 11 students at their school. She will deliver an overview of their ‘Data wise-based’ (Collaborative process) Bridging EAL program which is run as a compulsory subject alongside of VCE EAL Units 1 and 2 only, for ‘Excel’ learners of English with specific language and literacy needs

Rabecca Mphande, current EAL and Language School Transition Program Leader at Hampton Park Secondary College, has taught Bridging EAL to EAL learners in Year 11 at her school, from its introduction in 2016 in target Victorian schools. In her previous role as EAL Coordinator, Rabecca led the facilitation of Bridging EAL Curriculum design, documentation and implementation within the context of Data Wise, collaborative processes. Rabecca also has a track record of not only supporting EAL Teacher-teams to effectively plan and deliver their lessons but also teaching EAL across years 10, 11 and 12 with improved teaching and student learning outcomes.

Presentation Two

This presentation will provide a brief overview of the current EAL Bridging study design for the accreditation period of 2022 – 2026.  Carlo and Lucy will discuss how they implement EAL Bridging for Year 11 students at their school located in the North West region of Victoria. They will deliver an overview of their program which is run as a compulsory subject alongside of VCE EAL Unit 1 and 2.

Lucy Nguyen been teaching Bridging EAL for four years. She has experience delivering both the current Bridging study design this study design as well as the last. She has developed the current EAL Bridging Unit for implementation at Mount Ridley College P-12.

Carlo Cosner has been teaching EAL at Mount Ridley College for the past six years. He has experience in delivering the EAL program across both years 11 and 12 as well as Bridging. Carlo works closely with Lucy to highlight how the EAL Bridging unit can be used to complement the VCE EAL program.
