Position Information

Walgett Community College Primary School is a comprehensive school with an enrolment of approximately 130 students with a 98% Aboriginal student enrolment.

Walgett has a population of approximately 2300 and is situated in a remote rural context approximately 280 kilometres north of Dubbo.

The school is part of the Connected Communities strategy and is committed to providing a high-quality education for all students through a diverse, relevant curriculum focusing on literacy, numeracy and student and community engagement.

The school is well resourced and has an extensive staff compliment to support student engagement and learning.

The school is committed to achieving strong educational outcomes for all Aboriginal students through cultural connections.

In 2024, the library lessons at WCCPS will run as a part of the relief from face-to-face (RFF) program and provide Gifted and Talented learning opportunities for identified students.

Specific Selection Criteria

1. Approval to teach primary library or currently undertaking or currently enrolled in Teacher Librarian qualifications approved by the NSW Department of Education

 2. Approval to teach infants and primary

3. Demonstrated capacity and commitment to creating enriching opportunities for all students, including high potential and gifted students, in a stimulating library learning environment utilising the library and technology resources.

4. Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills, with a demonstrated ability to be collaborative and stay up to date with the library management and information technology trends.

5. Demonstrated ability to deliver whole school extra curricula programs to a diverse student population, whilst promoting critical and creative thinking.

Conditions

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.

 

 

Special Notes

Successful applicants may be entitled to a relocation support payment of $5,000 to $8,000 for eligible applicants. 

Applicants are to include details of their WWCC clearance number as part of this application.

If applicable engagement will be temporary until successful completion of the Teacher Librarian qualifications as recognised by the NSW Department of Education, which must be completed within 24 months.
